Presentation during the AEDEM International Conference held at Università degli Studi di Palermo
Prof. Francisco Muñoz-Leiva from the University of Granda participated in the AEDEM International Conference held at Università degli Studi di Palermo, Italy, between August 31st and September 2nd, 2025. He delivered presentation based on the semistructured interviews conducted among freelancers and company representatives who hire freelancers:
Bridging the gap: Freelancers’ skills versus competencies’ demand
Highlights:
- the study reveals some divergences, particularly regarding communication, interpersonal skills, project management capabilities, and the evolving technical and legal demands resulting from digital transformation,
- while freelancers often emphasize their strengths in communication and autonomy, companies frequently report deficiencies in these same areas, such as the need for repeated clarifications or lack of proactive engagement,
- whereas more experienced freelancers highlight technical expertise and project management as key assets, companies tend to stress the importance of interpersonal skills and teamwork, especially in large or less experienced organizations.
